Hello fellow Deviators,

If you are here today, then obviously you are here to read on how to give less of a Damn about your Art Post Depression. (APD)

(HURRAY PROCRASTINATION PART 2 :iconraveplz:)

To be honest this journal entry is directed to the following who think they are not good enough at art and fall into slumps that are so terrible that i want to throw them into sun for making me sad. :iconthrowplz: :iconexplosionplz:

Now first, let us review on why we give a Damn and trigger our APD.

1. We care

What do we care about?

Perhaps it is looking bad in front of others?

This is completely understandable seeing that self consciousness wreaks havok in everyone since the day they become self aware! (HURRAY FOR NO SELF ESTEEM  ((here's a sarcastic thumbs up for you)) :iconthumbsupplz:)

2. We are jealous

Maybe the following can draw feet OR maybe they can draw mona lisa with their eyes closed.

Either way. We want to kill them. :icongunplz:

( Always remember to bury them under a dead dog, that way police dogs can't stiff the body out! :iconblushplz:)

3. I'm older than them

Ahhhh yes.. the classic 13 year old who can paint on photoshop like some kind of adonis. :iconsquidwardplz:

hm.................................................................. ah yes. I believe this is called natural talent? Whatever that means?

4. Artblock

My- my- my ah yes the Artblock. Oh so blocky!

Oh so damn depressing.

5. I just dont know

Is there anything to really say about this.

WOW! 5 out of 5! GEE WILLIES.

That is ALOT of reasons why to become depressed don't you think?

So instead of rethinking our whole lives and staring at the ceiling in shock..

LETS THINK OF REASONS NOT TO GIVE A DAMN :iconsparklesplz:

1. Facing the ugly truth :iconburningplz:

Let's be honest. There's a chance of a tiny atom that you will become famous. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?

WHY BECOME FAMOUS?

Being famous takes up precious time to hang out with friends and is quite honestly a VERY stressing job. Popular mangakas are statisticlly very depressed and are paid VERY poorly. (looking at you high school anime club people)

Plus WHAT is the purpose you are really drawing for? Many of you will probably say for the sake of work. But i say B.S!

Deviantart = Art community
art community = community of people
Community of people = making social bonds
social bonds = as said by :iconvonnabeee: Frond.

So chill out! Your Fronds aren't going anywhere :iconwthamiseeingplz:

2. Go away

The hell you ask?

I mean it. GO AWAY. Sometimes Art post depression comes from being surrounded by too much ART. I mean. COME ON. Of course you are gonna think about it if you are on Deviantart every second of your life.

Two other ways of getting away

a) Draw something different for once!
b) Dont draw at all and practice your magical skills at something else such as writing a story!

3.  Practice makes perfect

Let's think about this.
What even is perfect?
Is is something that appeals to us?
Or is it something that appeals to society?
Do you think picasso's stuff is perfect?
Some will say yes
some will say no
some will just say nothing.

The answer SHOULD Be.

DINGDINgdING
SOMETHING THAT APPEALS TO US
(DID YOU GET IT RIGHT??? it's kinda sad if you didnt

as for ol' picasso. Im one of those who wont say anything)

STOP CARING SO MUCH ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK.

I understand that it's very hard because some people want to please others. Some people want to be accepted. Some just can't help it for no reason. But you must understand that the MORE we care, the MORE possible chance that it will stunt your artistic growth.

Think about it.

You draw something terrific. You see someone elses work. You get self conscious. You start wondering if your drawn hands look like wookie claws. You start to get sad. You try to draw it again. HOW 2 DRAW WHEN SAD?

(not everyone has the power to communicate HOW SAD THEY ARE THROUGH ART *wipes my boogers on a canvas*)

It's better to feel good about YOUR improvement, because it is YOUR art, and YOU are YOU.

It is terribly hard though because some people either don't want to realize that they are themselves and some just simply don't want to be themselves.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT. THE ONLY WAY TO GET BETTER. IS PRACTICE. AND PRACTICE COMES WITH PATIENCe. AND PATIENCE TAKES TIME. SO STOP WORRYING. BECAUSE IN TIME that PATIENCE will be able to be seen through that PRACTICE

4. Review

Sometimes when you stress too hard on things that you DO NOT know. Then you will often forget things that you DO know of.

Art is sadly (for those who are lazy like me) dependant on repetitiveness. But you know what. SUCK IT UP. THAT IS LIFE. And that is how we learn.

So when you stress too much about stressing about other things then that stress will amplify because you cant do what you know well!

(That is such a bother to even think about UGH :iconlazycryplz:)

5. BE CONFIDENT

YoU ARE ONLY TERRIBLE, IF YOU THINK YOU ARE.

Psychology affects us deeply and if you are chanting on how terrible you are. Then you will feel terrible and in the end become terrible.

Keep a positive mind set. It helps when you are entering a new stage of learning!

Well look at that! There are some basic things to keep you on your feet! :iconlazydanceplz:

Of course this wont guarantee you from being saved from another art slump, because sadly being sad is just inevitable. :icontearplz:

But remember! Next time you are saying

" Give no F*cks."

Think if you TRUELLY do not give a F*ck!!

*cheesy 70s music ending*
